Chief Executive Officer, Community Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM)

Location: West Chester, Pennsylvania

Community Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) was founded in 1998 to provide healthcare, hope and healing to local uninsured working adults and their children. Inspired by the work of Dr. Jack McConnell and supported by community leaders connected to Paoli Hospital (now part of Main Line Health), a primary goal was to increase access to high quality healthcare and thereby reduce costly emergency room visits and hospital admissions.  Its mission is to provide free, high-quality healthcare to uninsured working people with low incomes to help them live healthy, productive lives and to assure health equity in the Chester County Region

CVIM has treated thousands of patients since its opening.  In FY 24 it cared for about 4,755 patients during 45,672 visits. Primary and specialty medical carecomprehensive dental services, and free prescription medicines are provided to uninsured individuals and families earning less than 300% of the federal poverty level. Care is given in a comfortable setting by compassionate volunteer licensed healthcare professionals, support volunteers, and core staff. Their operating budget is supported entirely by a generous community of philanthropic individuals, foundations, corporations, health partners, local and state funding, faith-based organizations, and civic groups.

CVIM has nearly doubled in size and expanded to a multisite operation over the past five years.  The full-time, part-time staff and committed highly trained volunteers are the heart and soul of CVIM.  Throughout this expansion CVIM has maintained a high level of patient care while building a strong balance sheet and insuring its long-term financial viability.

With the announcement of the current long time CEO’s departure in June, CVIM seeks to hire its third leader.
